WELCOME TO PARIMRY 4/5

PADDY DONNELLY VISIT

We were very fortunate to have renowned local author Paddy Donnelly pay a visit to our school recently.

Paddy spent time with our P.4 and P.5 pupils where they enjoyed an afternoon of storytelling, creatively drawing mythical creatures as well as having their eyes opened to the wonder of nature and landscapes that we possess right on our own doorstep.

We learned that it is these landscapes and local nature which provide the inspiration for Paddy’s books and beautiful illustrations. We really enjoyed this workshop and the children are looking forward to reading a selection of Paddy’s books which we now have in our own school library.

MATHS WEEK

Maths week brought some practical, fun learning outside of the classroom for our P.4/P.5 pupils!

Our Numeracy topic this term has been time. With this in mind, what better way to problem solve than by taking turns with your partner to either be the minute hand or the hour hand inside your very own pupil designed clock.

The children worked hard solving problems revolving around the duration of time before displaying their answers practically. We all made sure to keep an eye on the clock and our watches to make sure we weren’t running late for our lunch! Well done everyone!

PRACTICAL NUMERACY IN P.4/P.5

Our pupils enjoyed a practical lesson this week in Numeracy. They strategically used hula hoops and multi-link blocks to visually learn their times tables. The children worked both together and individually to answer their multiplication sums before giving each other challenges. It’s great to see our pupils working hard in their Numeracy while also having lots of fun.
