HALF TIME GAMES
A huge well done to our five Primary 7 pupils who took to the pitch at half-time in Corrigan Park yesterday during the Antrim v Dublin game!

Our boys and girls represented St. Joseph’s Primary School, Dunloy with great pride, skill, and sportsmanship. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their talents on such a big stage, and they certainly rose to the occasion!

We are incredibly proud of each one of them, you did your school, your families, and your community proud.

PAST PUPIL VISIT

Last week we were delighted to welcome back one of our past pupils, Conal McFerran, who recently returned from an inspiring trip to Romania where he spent a week supporting children in orphanages and in communities where extra care and compassion are greatly needed.

Conal, now a student at St. Louis Grammar School, Ballymena, spoke to our pupils about his experiences, sharing stories, photographs, and the meaningful activities he and his fellow students took part in. His kindness, maturity, and willingness to help others truly shone through.

At St. Joseph’s Primary School, we are incredibly proud of Conal and the work he has done to bring hope, joy, and support to children who need it most. It was a pleasure to welcome him home and to see the positive example he continues to set for our school community.

WORLD BOOK DAY

A Cosy carry on today in St Joseph’s, nothing beats a snuggle up with a good book. Keep your eye on the school website for lots more World Book Day 2026 photos. Thank you to everyone for supporting our Eco Book Swap today, lots of excited boys and girls heading home with ‘new’ books to share.

BOOK AND BEAR NIGHT

Our Primary 1 and 2 pupils had a lovely evening at our Book and Bear Night! There were big smiles, cosy stories, and lots of excitement as everyone snuggled up with their favourite bears and enjoyed the world of stories.
A huge thank you to all the children, families, and staff who made the night so special.
ACTIVE SCHOOLS UPDATE
Recently, we have been very lucky to welcome Johnny, our fantastic link officer for the Active Schools Programme, for several fun and informative visits.

Johnny has been busy teaching our pupils all about cycling skills, the history of bikes, and the importance of active transport. Thanks to his encouragement and expertise, many of our children have been able to ‘Ditch the Stabilisers’ and grow into confident cyclists!

GREEN RAFFLE

Well done to all our Green Raffle winners.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our Lenten Fundraising Campaign so far.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT DAY
Our P7 class had a wonderful Confirmation Retreat Day in the parish hall today, focusing on celebrating our strengths and talents, decision- making and exploring the gifts, fruits and symbols of the Holy Spirit in a fun way.

Thanks to Deborah for facilitating the sessions today. We were very grateful to hear Una’s inspiring story and reflect on the power of prayer. Many thanks to Father Devlin for looking after us so well throughout the day, and to Father PJ McCamphill and Father Blayney for joining us for lunch and Confessions in the afternoon. A special word of thanks to Fionnuala McGuckian for the fantastic catering.

MICHAEL ENGLISH CONCERT

On Friday night, our children had the privilege of singing at the Michael English concert in the Chapel, joined by their teacher, Mrs Donnelly. What a fantastic parish event this was!

The children sang beautifully and represented our school and community with such pride. They had an amazing evening, full of joy, music, and unforgettable memories.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, and to the organisers for giving our children the opportunity to take part in such a special event. We are truly grateful.

ULSTER AVIATION VISIT

Thank you to John and Paul from Ulster Aviation Society who came to St. Joseph's to show the KS1 boys and girls part of their collection and to let them experience being inside the cockpit of their Devon C.2 plane, as part of their WAU topic of Flight. Everyone in school enjoyed the opportunity to experience being at the controls.

GAELFAST FUN BLITZ

Well done to all our Primary 4 children that took part in the Cumann na mBunscol and Gaelfast Fun Blitz in the Sports Academy. The children had an excellent time and did a wonderful job representing our school.

SCIENCE WORKSHOP

Primary 3 and Primary 4 had a fun, science workshop with Chris from Eurekaseekers. There were squeals of delight as they found out the science behind the volcanoes on the moon, rockets and hot air balloons through practical, hands on experiments. Chris was really impressed with our budding scientists at St. Joseph’s.
