IRISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

Recently the school competed in an IFA Fustal Tournament at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre in Ballymena. This was something new for the children. Futsal is held indoors with a heavier ball to encourage greater use of skills. Both the girls' and boys' teams adapted brilliantly to the game and worked really hard. Our girls were defeated at the semi-final stage by a strong St Columba's team despite excellent performances throughout the team. The boys fared slightly better, overcoming a talented Ballykeel PS team to make it through to the final. Unfortunately, they weren't able to take home the trophy as near-neighbours St Columba's took the prize. Overall a great performance and the children really enjoyed the experience of competing in this competition. Well done!

South West Antrim Large Schools League Winners 2016

On Tuesday 28th September, our P6/7 boys took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil South West Antrim Large Schools League at All Saints GAA Grounds, Ballymena. The boys lost 1 and won 1 game in the group stages, setting up a semi-final with St. Colmcille's Ballymena, a game which the boys were in control of, from start to finish. In the final, they met a strong challenge from Ballymacrickett PS, who had beaten them in the group stages. However, on this occasion with a trophy at stake, the game was nip and tuck all the way until a left-footed strike from Pearse sealed a one point victory for our boys. A huge congratulations to all the players on the squad  and a great start to the year for St. Joseph's.

OUR SCHOOL RUNNING CLUB

Congratulations to the children who took part in the Flahavan's Cross Country League which took place  in Roe Valley Country park. The children were very successful and did the school proud.
